"Respond to both questions, using a maximum of 1,000 words total. You may allocate the word count as you wish. If you choose to respond to one prompt at greater length, we suggest your shorter answer be no less than 250 words. Stay within the word limit as closely as you can. A little over — 1,012 words, for example — is fine."

I just wanted to clarify: does this mean that the total word count of both prompts TOGETHER must total 1000 words (more or less)?

Or rather, does this mean that EACH prompt must be written to a total of 1000 words (more or less)............

yup together the total amount of words u can use for both essays put together is 1000.
u can go a little bit over 1000 though, like maybe 20-30 words.

“using a maximum of 1,000 words total” Each essay is 500 words (or 600-400, etc as long as its less than or equal to 1000 total). They should be somewhat equal though, I wouldn’t make them too different in length.

Yeah everybody has it down pat
They said, also, that they’ll give you a little bit of leeway if you have like 12 words over, for instance. But not much more!

"They should be somewhat equal though, I wouldn’t make them too different in length. "

Not true. I talked to a rep about this. The rep said as long as they can get a better picture of you, beyond your stats, then it doesn’t matter if one prompt is significantly longer than the other.

@jbLighty 700 for both is too much. @iwantanswers I’m not sure the UC app will let you go over 1000. Try, but I think the system will truncate your PS when you copy and paste.

what is it with these people saying 1010 words are okay? I had 1002 words and I had to limit it down to 1000 or I couldn’t move on in the application.
