Question...

I was just on ncf's website because I've been freaking out about the chance I might not get in when I apply next year and ncf is my top choice. So, anyways, I was trying to determine my GPA according to their weighting to make sure that I am on level with most of their freshman class and I don't think I'm doing it right because it seems insanely high compared to what they said their middle 50% got. Mine was calculated to be a 6.23 and it says on their website that the middle 50% got between a 3.59 and 4.21.

This is how they do their weighting:
"Weighted GPA as calculated by New College, representing core academic courses
and weighting ½ point for honors, 1 point for AP/IB/AICE."
When it says 1/2 point for honors, it means .05, and 1 point for AP means .1? That's how I did mine and it seems far too high.

If anyone could please explain, I'd really appreciate it. I'm freaking out because of my lack of extracurriculars and the fact that my grades have fallen due to my rigorous course load.

Honors:

A=4.5, B=3.5, C=2.5, etc.

AP:

A=5.0, B=4.0, C=3.0, etc.

You convert all your grades (even since freshman year) to the numbers as shown above, and divide by the number of classes. This will give your weighted cumulative gpa.
