Question...

Im just finishing up Prompt #1 of the UC essays and I had a question. Is it appropriate to mention that I am not positive about what I want to pursue as a career, if I incorporate it well into my essay? Or do they want their applicants to be focused and already dedicated to what they want to do? (which I think is ridiculous).

If you can make it seem like something to be proud of rather than something you’re admitting to, I think you’ll be fine. By not mentally confining yourself to one field, you’re keeping the possibilities open for exploring, you’re excited about learning-- but you’ve still got an idea of what you want to do, which gives you structure.

If you’re still not sure, just omit it.
