This year (sophomore year) I took two AP classes, Euro and English Language, and got a 4 on both of them. I was wondering, will the scores give me credit if I go to Cornell, and, how will these be viewed? good or bad? will they take into account that they were my first APs and I was a sophomore?

those are definitly good ap scores…you get 3 credit hours for english, and 4 for Euro. I’m sure cornell will view them as good.

PS. having taken the AP Euro test…nice job on getting a 4. i heard it was actually a lot harder than last year’s, because they took off the guessing penalty this year

For the English you will not place out of anything (you would have needed a 5), but the Euro is good.

Here is the general guide for placement via AP’s: [Credit and Placement](http://as.cornell.edu/information/orientation/credit.cfm)

Thanks for the quick responses, would these scores be looked at in a good way or a bad way?

you’re using the guide for college of arts and sciences, i’m using the one for agriculture and life sciences, at http://www.cals.cornell.edu/cals/current/registrar/current-students/upload/Advanced-Placement-2010_2011-2.pdf .

so i’m guessing there’s probably no policy applying to the ENTIRE university.

No, they certainly will not detract any from your application. You are fine.

agreed with mxmmstudent, they’re pretty great scores.

thanks guys, and thats good about the different standards per college, because I was leaning towards CALS anyway.

CALS tends to be very flexible with its requirements, so I wouldn’t worry too much.
