And I am going to summer seminar. Is there a swimming seminar there?

anyone interested in the academy that will graduate hs in 2007, join my yahoo group here- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/usafa2011/?yguid=236999465

No swimming at SS, but its a great way to get a feel for the campus and it helps your admissions file. E-mail the coach and he will get you started with the recruiting process.

Can runners bring their own running shoes, or will they need to use the ones issued with the PT uniform?
If so, what kind of shoes are issued?

There are no shoes issued. Nobody does anymore running than anybody else really.

I probably will. I'm gonna be on the XC team though, so they may have slightly different rules for me and what shoes I'm allowed to use.

ZMAN07 ,were you talking about Summer Seminar or actual BCT?

I believe he was talking about SS.

Actually, I was talking about the actual academic year, just out of curiosity. I was looking at the marathon club, etc, and just thought that it would be worth asking.
I am a junior, and will, therefore be going to SS this year, and have the impression that we just wear whatever we bring.
Does anyone know if those in the marathon club get to run everyday? Otherwise, is it possible to "walk on" to the xc team? My times probably don't merit recruitment (16:58 5k). Any input would be appreciated.

Also, just out of curiosity, do athletes have "25 hours of work to cram into a 24 hour day", or is time management not quite that much of a problem?

You don't "wear whatever you bring" to SS clothes-wise. They "issue" these lovely blue tshirts and shorts and you wear the tshirts every day (they give you like 5) and the shorts you wear for intramurals and stuff. You'll wear your own shorts or pants but you really don't have to bring all that much. I'm just letting you know because I didn't know this and brought a ton of stuff I never wore.

Cool. Thanks for telling me that, otherwise, I probably would have brought a bunch of junk that I'd never use.

New Topic:
Is it best to just keep quiet or do the professors like to be challenged - as a rule ?

I'm not sure what you mean by challenging, but I would imagine that they like their students to be engaged by asking questions and making comments. I think it would make for a good "class discussion" if there was some conflict.

You are encouraged to participate in discussions, but the amount of "conflict" depends on the class. There is no place for it in some classes and will surely be seen as disrespectful; however, in other classes (ethics, as a very obvious one) there is expected to be debate going on.

I don't think this is any different than classrooms everywhere. If you argue with your calculus instructor, you are probably wrong. Otherwise, they'll appreciate discussion as much as any high school teacher.
