Questions about college credits for an incoming freshman

Is it true that you can only have 30 college credits from APs?

How many credits does a 5 on AP chemistry give you?

If I’m not going into science (most likely going into business), will the AP bio score be any use to me if I already have the chem credits?

Can you not get college credits for the BC Calc AP?

Thanks!

They have this info on the web. It differs quite a bit by division/school (e.g. engineering, A&S, etc.). Here is a link to A&S AP credits.

<a href="http://college.artsci.wustl.edu/sites/college.artsci.wustl.edu/files/AP_Credits.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://college.artsci.wustl.edu/sites/college.artsci.wustl.edu/files/AP_Credits.pdf</a></p>

You can use many of them as electives. They are, however, pretty strict about scores. 5s usually get credit whereas 4s give you placement without credit (sometimes). Keep in mind the vast majority of students there have AP courses, usually quite a few.

Do you know where I can get info about AP credits for Olin?

Also, If I choose to minor or double major in A&S, what happens if let's say Olin will take AP BC Calc credits but A&S won't?

That is getting pretty complicated. Generally, the AP credits will be good for fulfilling core requirements and electives, but not advancing you in a major (except to place up in a higher course). And both a business degree and an A&S degree still require you to take a core courseload. I would guess, and it really is just a guess, that both would accept them as fulfilling some of your core courses, but not toward either the major or minor courses. And Olin does limit credit toward its degree to 30 hours.

These are things you will have to map out with an advisor after you choose your major(s) and minor(s). It is fair to assume that you if you make a lot of 5s on AP tests, you will have a leg up on your program in either school. If you make 4s, you have some flexibility, but maybe not too many credits. As best I can tell, 3s get you nothing at Wash U.

Olin follows the A&S guidelines for AP credit.

If I want to double major in business and something in A&S (something that doesn't have to do with science), or major in business and minor in A&S, will it be enough if I have 6 credits from AP chem and then take some psychology courses to finish the natural sciences requirements?
