Questions about dorms...

As an incoming Freshman I have a few questions...

What is the internet situation like at Harvard?

What is the cable situation (only in common rooms save for those lucky dorms, aye?)

Do I have to bring my own TV for dorm room?

What are my chances of getting a single dorm? (Not that important to me).

Can you request a person to room with? AND if so:

What are the chances that person will be your roommate?

My brother and I would like to be roommates (I don't need to hear how unsocial that is. I'm a very social person, in fact I would spend very little time in my dorm. My dorm room will be only for sleeping, studying, and the occasional relaxing. I would rather just be able to study with the light on and keep my brother awake. Plus, we have similar sleeping habits.)

So any help from you guys? =]

What is the internet situation like at Harvard?
Wireless is awesome in the yard and in the Union dorms, I can only assume the same is for Apley
What is the cable situation (only in common rooms save for those lucky dorms, aye?)
Only common rooms. Antenna is your best bet for some TV.
Do I have to bring my own TV for dorm room?
Yes, unless one of your roommates has agreed to bring his, but be sure to split large items between roommates unless of course one of your roommates is traveling a very long distance.
What are my chances of getting a single dorm? (Not that important to me).
If you list your preference as having zero roommates, the FDO (freshman dean’s office) does their best to give you what you want. Should be Hurlbut or Greenough that is entirely singles.
Can you request a person to room with? AND if so:
Unfortunately, you cannot make such requests. The FDO is very strict about this and wants to guarantee that you are interacting with a whole variety of people.
