How often is there an error when grading the SAT? And if you didn't fill in the bubble COMPLETELY or if there are tiny stray marks on the side, how often are questions marked incorrect when they're actually correct? Thanks in advance.

There’s really no way for us to know. Their machines are really good and should pick up what you want it to pick up.

If you think there’s something wrong with your score you can spend $50 for them to hand-grade it. If there was a mistake, they’ll refund you and fix your score. If there wasn’t, that’s $50 down the drain.

A friend of mine paid for the $50 and her score went down 80 points.

Ironic, right? I don’t know if she was refunded, either.

And I have no clue how she pulled it off. But it might be better for you not to find out?

The fact that people who get 800s do erase is probably indicative of the fact that their machines are not horrible.

Wait what!? So if you get your test hand graded you can actually end up with a lower score? Do you get to keep your old score or are you stuck with your bad one?

If they find the machine made an error in your favor, you lose those points and your score goes down.

Oh I see. If there is an error do you still get charged? I have a pretty good memory so I’ll probably catch any significant errors if there are any, especially on the math section.
