What're the chances my SAT II MATH II was scored incorrectly?

I walked out of the room that day pretty sure I aced it. Especially after having discussed answers online with some of you, I was pretty sure I did well, getting at most 4 wrong.

However, I only got a 650. How can that be?? A 650 is equivalent to a 30/50 raw score, meaning I basically failed the test. Impossible.

The only conclusion I have is that either I have very bad judgment (and I can't understand this since I CHECKED my answers on the math II forum here) or that they've scored it incorrectly. Yet, they use a scan tron machine..so what're the chances the machine could have scored it incorrectly? Because the fee is US$50 to handscore.

machines make mistakes too.

i have a feeling that happened to mine too. i was sure the most i couldve missed was 10. yet i got a 610! ***

seriously! I got a 630 and I was sure that I got at least 750+. There could be a problem with the scoring (at least that is what we all hope). but i don't want to pay $50...what else can be done?

I don't think there is really anything else you can do. If you pay the $50.00 and it turns out your score was wrong then they refund you.

Yes but the issue here is: What if we pay the $50 and they just run it through the machine again and make the same mistakes??

There's no guarantee. And there's no incentive for them to employ manual labor to check our scores - it's not like they're jumping to prove their own system wrong and refund the $50..

Oh what the heck. I spoke with my dad, and he says I should just go ahead and ask for a hand score. He says even though we may lose $50, it's an SAT II score so it's worth a shot. I'm going to send for handscoring..does anyone know how I can apply for this? The collegeboard website doesn't say how you can submit a request to do so..it only says you can.

yes i think i will send my in for hand scoring also but i wonder how long it will take bc if the score is correct, i have to sign up for dec sat ii

How do you ask for hand-scoring?

and if the actual score is lower, does it count against you?

Same thing happened to my friend. He had a 2390 on SATs. He got a 690 on this when he told me he for sure had an 800. I think there may have been mistakes.

I got mine handscored, and it worked out, but they didnt refund my money... The higher score is worth it alone =P

Gyros 321, did that happen to your friend for the october SAT?
Arwen1, how long did it take u to get ur score after hand scoring? How did you ask for hand scoring? Thanks!

Yes this one.

I read on the collegeboard website that you get back corrections within 3-5 weeks of resending for handscoring. The trouble is, it doesn't tell you HOW you can send it for rescoring. =/ Also, I know it's possible to buy back your own paper but again, the website doesn't inform us how.

Okay guys, here's the information I've found:

Cost: US$50
Number to call: (212) 713-7789
"You can also contact SAT Program Customer Service by telephone Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Eastern Time). Summer hours for SAT Program Customer Service (after the June administration through August) are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Eastern Time)."

bump...anybody else have similar circumstances?

yea, a little different though. took biology M sat on oct 14, but i think i forgot to bubble in "M", although i did do the M questions 81-100. They gave me a considerably lower score for bio E-670, when i thought i aced the test. bcuz 670 is basically 55/80...whichi ilike failing...no way...so i think imma get mine handgraded.

i came out not really sure how i did...i was pretty sure i had above a 750. I ended up getting an 800. maybe the cruve was just really harsh. i dont know how many i got wrong yet. left one blank.

i got 700 but expected 750+...i'm retaking in december

it depends. what did you get on practice tests?

For me I never went below a 705 on all the practice tests I took. 705 was the absolute lowest score I got.
