Questions about essay in general!

I am very overwhelmed right now and I have a few questions maybe someone can help me with as soon as possible!

On the common app, you have to check which essay prompt you are using (significant experience, a person, topic of your choice, etc.). Is it bad if you classify it as the wrong type? Or does it really not make any difference?

I know the limit is 500, and you're supposed to stick to it. But is it okay to go slightly over, like 520 or 530? or should it be strictly 500?

If I am writing about an experience volunteering at a camp, should it be composed of general information about the camp experience and mainly about how it affected me, or should it be composed of specific instances that had an affect on me?

I don’t think it really matters just as long as it fits the prompt, if your really worried you can pick the free topic one

Yea it’s ok to go a few words over just as long as you don’t write like 600 words haha 530 is fine.

I’ve been told that you should focus more on specific instances but you can always include some background info if your not comfortable jumping right into the topic.

Don’t worry the whole application is very stressful but take it little by little and you should be just fine, Good luck! :)
