I didn't pass Pol Sci 179. It is a one unit, pass/no pass class. It wasn't part of my required 13 units and it is not required by or related to my major.

Does it get factored into my gpa?
Will it look bad on my transcript? (I might apply to grad school, but probably not).
If I retake it and pass, will it replace the NP on my transcript?
If I retake it and fail, will I be the ultimate failure?

i think it shows up on the transcript but isn’t factored into your gpa. no it will not replace the NP on your transcript, i believe both grades will show up.

if you’re applying to med or law school, it will be factored into the GPA those schools see when you apply.

So is there a point to retaking it if I’m not applying to med/law school?

how did you not pass?!?!?!! it was sooo easy

awww…it doesn’t get factored into your GPA but retake it next semester though if you’re going to grad school

thanks for rubbing it in.
i have a terrible memory.

no, it’s ok. it’s not that big of a deal.

Since it is one-unit, it does not mean anything really.

It will stay on your transcript. If you retake, you will have the new record in addition, not in place.

However, this really doesn’t matter :)

MechRocket is mistaken… it’s not included in med school gpa

No, not worth it…unless you’re doing grad in polisci, and even then it’s a random 1 unit class, who cares.

maybe i am, can someone confirm is NP’s count as F’s when you’re applying to medical school?

They are interpreted as a failing grade but are not in the GPA calculation. It won’t change your AMCAS GPA but any and every F (or NP which is considered the same) is an issue for the admissions committee and might be questioned during interviews.

I’m wondering how one fails PS 179? Just having a simple understanding of state and national politics assures passing.

Please don’t tell me you vote too…

Hey stop being so mean. I know plenty of people that fail this class for the simple reason that it’s not a high priority. When you have other finals for important classes it’s easy for a class like this to slip in between the cracks.

I don’t think it’s a high priority for anyone. I went to one lecture this semester, didn’t listen to any of the lectures posted online, and still passed because it was that freaking easy.

i went to 4…the first 2 + Gavin Newsom and the comedian

It wasn’t just about state politics, it was the opinions of individual speakers so I couldn’t remember what specifically they said.

lol you people are so mean.
