Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I searched through a bunch of posts but couldn't get a definite answer.

I'm applying to schools through the Common App and I was mailed 8 fee waiver forms by College Board.

College Board's website says I can use 4 of their waivers. However, I was sent 8. Is this outdated or is it in case I mess up a form or something? haha

Some of the colleges on the Common App have fields where they ask if I intend to use a "school-specific waiver." The choices are either "Yes, I've been offered a waiver" or "No, I do not qualify for a waiver." I'm conflicted over which one to choose because I'm not using the school-specific waivers but I still qualify for them! Has anyone had the same issue before?

If you put that you have a College Board fee waiver in the Common App itself, then it doesn’t matter if you use the college’s fee waiver because you won’t be charged. Most of the schools that my D applied for through the Common App she had fee waivers from the school, but the ones that she didn’t have waivers, we still weren’t charged because she was eligible for the College Board’s fee waiver. But we still chose, yes, that she had a a fee waiver from the college because she did, and the ones that she didn’t, she chose no. Hope that helps.

A school specific waiver is one that the college previously extended to you because you have visited their college, you are a targeted applicant, ect.
I assume you received the CB waivers because you had an SAT waiver? Any college on the CA will grant you a fee waiver if you had an SAT waiver, thus the CB waivers are irrelevant. If you are applying to any non CA schools you can use them for those applications.
