Hey;
I'm from New York.. a smaller city, currently attending a community college and starting to look into transfering to a school for social work. hopefully in getting my BSW and eventually MSW. I've always loved florida, and esp Miami, and thats what made me start to look into FIU but i have a few questions because ive seen alot of negative comments about it.
-I have a dog so if i did go to Miami i would have to get my own place..is it easy to find a job? whats the minimum wage? and are one bedrooms expensive?
-I saw alot of comments on bad documentation, andd about the school not giving people there diploma's after years..has this happend to any of you or friends?
-How is the club scene around Miami..&FIU are there alot of clubs?...are they good?
-& do you reccommend me going to FIU ? leaving my family and friends? how was/is your expoerience?. im just iffy about this because i dont know if i can make it down there on my own and i dont want to move there and HATE the school. so i just need some current/previous FIU students advice....THANKS ALOT*

Hi, FIU is a great school and usually those bad comments you read are from FAU fanatics. FIU has 2 great campuses at great locations. The BBC campus is less than 20 minutes away from South Beach where if you are interested, you can find a job there or an on Campus job at www.fiujobs.org
You can get your own place if you want to, I have a friend that currently rents out an apartment 15 minutes away for less than 300 bucks. FIU is really close to everything, the clubs and sporting events are awsome! Heck, I reccomend you to come down and Bring your fam and Friends cuz they will love it! I’m a current student and LOVE IT! there are so many extra curricular activities to do in Miami!

Thanks a bunch! i can definatly afford less that $300 a month thatd be awesome! because this is where i really wanna go if i could find a place and a job. so thanks so much for all this helpful information!(:

It sounds like FIU would be a good fit for you if you’re enamored with Miami.

Do you speak Spanish? My father lives in Miami and doesn’t speak Spanish so he’s finding it difficult to find a job. However, FIU might have jobs available on campus.
