Questions about Global Business Honors and Core

Hello! I am really excited because I was recently accepted into the Global Business Honors Program at Fordham. Does anyone have any experience with this program? Additionally, I have some concerns about the core curriculum. How exactly does this work, and are my ap credits useful in any respect? I was looking forward to not having to take any math or science courses…
thank you!

Just got in as well. I would love to know more about it if anyone has any info!

This is a great program. My daughter had friends in it and they loved it.

The Gabelli Core is much different than the regular core. There is no science or foreign language requirement as there is in the liberal arts core. But you will need to take Business Math Calculus and Business Math Finite Math.

I know with Fordham when it comes to AP, you must need to score a 4 or 5 to get the credits. I believe they may have changed their policy in regards to having those credits count towards core classes. Here’s the link in regards to AP credits: https://www.fordham.edu/info/21825/transfer_credits_apib/4001/advanced_placement_ap_credit

So if you already took Calculus and those Economics classes and scored 4 or 5 you may be good. Double check with your guidance counselor at school or even email admissions about it.

Being a part of Gabelli is a door opener. You have so many resources handed to you.

Hope this helps.

The Gabelli core is different for people in GBHP (Global Business Honors Program). The liberal arts core is the same (2 theology, 2 philosophy, 2 writing, 1 history, 1 fine arts).

The above post has incorrect information for people in GBHP.

For the Gabelli Core, I will list below the freshman classes that you will take with GBHP (and CANNOT get out of even with credit)
Honors Business Math (First semester)- This replaces the normal calculus AND finite math classes
Honors Macreconomics (First semester)- Replaces normal macro requirement
Honors Global Business Readings (Second semester)- Unique class. Kind of replaces Ground Floor, which you don’t take.
Probability and Statistics (Second semester)- Replaces normal probability and statistics class
Honors Microeconomics (Second semester)- Replaces normal micro requrement

As mentioned, people in GBHP also don’t take Ground Floor. So your freshman year will be different than everyone else in Gabelli.

For AP Credit- With GBHP you cannot get out of the two econ classes or the two honors math classes. Nobody in Gabelli can get out of history or the two writing classes. No required science or language though.

So, for freshman year, your schedule might look something like this.

Semester 1:
History
Composition II- First writing class
Honors Business Math
Honors Macroeconomics
Faith and Critical Reason- First theology class

Semester 2:
Career Exploration- A 1 credit class all Gabelli students take
Honors Global Business Readings
Honors microeconomics
probability and statistics
Philosophy of human nature- first philosophy class
Texts and Contexts- Second writing class.
