questions about lsu

From class of 2013 forward you need bare minimum 3.0 GPA, 22 ACT, and all the fun classes like physics. There will be no loop holes, hmmmmm, except for athletes of course, but that is for every university. They just honestly need to. I never understood why they had it so low in the first place. Considering the graduation rate is only around 50 percent. Way to many people were coming in unprepared and you see them drop like flies. I think this is due to football season, lol. The average ACT score is around a 26. Average gpa around a 3.5 or 3.6. You will see a lot of people come and go. Especially in engineering. You look at the entering class and the graduating classes it is like someone dropped a bomb. It is like where is everyone?

The class of 2009 won't get in like every other class before it. The school is becoming more and more selective. It is not the same ole LSU anymore.

TOPS requirements should increase. Atleast a 3.5 is what I say for the honors and performance awards. The opportunity should be around a 3.0 or 3.2. Something along those lines.

I'm taking Chemistry II AP this year instead of Physics, and LSU approved. I'm not sure how often they make exceptions, but their reasoning was that LSU requires 3 science credits (I've already got honors credits for physical science, biology, and chemistry) and now I'm just replacing physics with something else.
It also might have helped that I'm an NMSF from Baton Rouge who's planning to major in chemistry.

Tigerlilly, I suggest you take physics. It will help you out in the long run. You'll have to take 2 classes of it regardless if you plan on majoring in chemistry. You will be taking engineering physics, it won't even be regular physics you will be taking. You will be in a world of hurt if you don't expose yourself to it now. Don't play the gpa game when you have to take the class in college regardless. Oh man, you just don't know.

I see way too many people throw their tops tuition down the drain, a lot of money is being wasted when more aid could be given to students who are actually doing well. Like you said, some leeway should be given to students with a hard major or a substantial amount of credit hours. I just think the system could do better as a whole.

ForeverLSU- i agree with you. Many students are wasting their tops tuition. It's sad to see.

Im from baton rouge louisiana and to get into lsu you have to have a 3.0 and 23 on the act not 25 and 3.5 or whatever that dude said

lsu focuses a lot more on gpa than act scores. i had a friend who got in with only a 20 on her act, but had a 3.9 GPA.
