I’m an 18 year old male and I’m a first year student at a community college. I’m a huge car enthusiast. I don’t care if I’m flying down an empty road or sitting in rush hour traffic. I’m looking at where I would like to transfer. I’d really like to attend UCLA in the fall of 2018. I have other plans in case I don’t get in. I would like to drive there. My only problem is about parking. I know students of all years and both on and off campus, can have a car. That’s not my problem. It’s how I park. I mean, do I buy a pass and they give me a sticker? Or do I have to pay a fee every single time I park? Or do I get a pass and have to pay a fee every time I park? I tried checking the website but, I can’t find what I’m looking for. Can someone give me some information that will answer my questions? I like to get all the information I can before making any decisions.
Not easy answer. It depends. Would you be a commuter student or looking for overnight parking on campus. Permit options, when I looked, are outlined on the UCLA website. Permits are limited and one must apply. So no guarantees.
Some people may do paid hourly parking around the neighborhood. My S at UCLA doesn’t have a car. My D at Berkeley has a car and parks it at her off campus rental. She has to find housing where she can park. When she lived in off campus in apartment she paid $75/mo for her parking spot. Now she’s in a neighborhood quite a distance from campus. She does not drive to school similar to UCLA parking on campus is very restricted. She takes the bus to school. But has her car to get to work and on the weekends.
