I'd just like to know something about the essays before I begin writing them, so if anyone could extrapolate on them, I'd be grateful!

1) Is the Pg 217 Essay limited only to Pg 217? And if so, can you make the font smaller, or make the margins smaller?

2) Is the essay about the professor you'd like to work with important, and what length should you limit it to.

3) For the Why Penn essay, can you also manipulate that so that the font is small and the margins are smaller? And what would be an acceptable word limit ?(I was told that it should be long enough to be read in under 5 minutes).

Dear god child, how much do you want to write? Just try to limit it to one page single spaced 12 font. At some point an essay like your Why Penn will just become repetitive or start listing stuff not unique to Penn if it's 5 or 6 pages long. I don't think you'll get penalized if your essay starts to go onto a second page. Changing it to 11 font isn't that big of a deal either. If you're making it 8 font and 1 cm margins, it won't look good anyway. About the professor essay, it's limited to like 100 characters. It is only important in the sense that it shows you can do research on Penn, have some direction in what you want to study, and have enough interest in Penn to go to a random department's website and click on the description of a random professor.

the research question was actually much more of a big deal than i thought it would be. my interviewer asked me about it and my adcom mentioned it several times when i was waitlisted, so make it a good one. there are so many incredible opportunities at penn that it shouldnt be hard to find one and write about it.

I actually found a professor that teaches a class that I'd have under my PPE major. I was going to write about how I read his book (which I actually did, but a long time ago), so I'm guessing I'll have to re-read it before my interview or adcoms as about it xD
