the short essays asks “Name a Penn professor with whom you would like to study or conduct research and explain why.”
are we supposed to just choose any professor from the site?
and how many words are the freshman applicant essays supposed to be?

That short essay has to fit in the space.

You have to be clever about this one.....Figure out what you enjoy studying or want to major in, and google that subject and "University of Pennsylvania faculty." Then read some of the articles published by a professor in that area. After reading it should be easy to say why you would like to study or do research with a particular prof.

Hope that makes sense.

good luck

thanks! that helped
~but does anyone know the answer to the other question?
how many words are the freshaman applicant essays supposed to be? it does not specify

I believe you write one page maximum and there is no word limit, as long as it fits on one page

this might sound stupid, but i just want to double check.
the one page limit would be single spaced not double spaced right?

and what about the font and size of letters?

Well, I made my font ten, but I also double-spaced it. I made it long enough for them to know me, but not bore them to death.

wait...going back to cookie's question...1 page single-spaced or double?

just single spaced font 12 willl be fine.. like a typical essay to be 500-600 words

and what is the format of the essays supposed to be? what should we put in the header?

what about one page 10 font?

the "name a professor you want to work with" has a maximum character limit of 300 characters... i don't know where ya'll gettin this 1 page 500-600 words from... that's for the normal essays

both my essays were a little longer than 1 page so i made them size 11 font and made the page margins slightly smaller, is this bad?

Not if you are a recruited swimmer

Bulldog111- I'm not a recruit

Sorry, I figured you were with your sn. You essay length sounds fine, but the admissions office can answer your question if you are really worried about it. Good luck!
