Questions about the mid-year report

On the common application form, it says: 'If your recommendation for this student has changed, please comment in the space below or on a separate sheet. If nothing has changed, you may leave this page blank.' Should only the rubrics that are changed be updated, or all of them? What if just part of it has changed? For example, what if my GPA increased, but my rank has remained the same? Does it mean the space for rank should be left blank?

And my counselor has not changed her opinion about me during this semester and I doubt she plans to write a new recommendation. However, since I sent the application I was awarded a prize and I would like colleges to know about it. Should I ask her to mention that with the mid-year report? Or is it better to just email admissions and let them know?

i would just email them.

But wouldn't seem more official if my counselor tells them that?

please, can anybody help me?

Is it a BIG TIME award? Or just a departmental or something?

A regional one, that qualifies me to a national competition.

angelutza, is your GC questioning how to fill out the midyear report? If not, let her do her job and fill out the form as she deems appropriate.

You can ask her to mention your award as well. Just as a belt-and suspenders thing, though, you can send a snail mail (it's more likely to get into your file than an e-mail) notifying the schools as well.

I am an international student and my counselor has no idea how to deal with such forms. This is why I am supposed to clearly tell her what to do.

Oh, ok. There's no reason not to reiterate your rank when she puts in your new GPA. But she doesn't have to restate anything that's not related to the GPA change.

same situation... my counselor doesn't know a word of English (well, maybe few words)
