Questions about the Wait-list...

I'm not applying this year or anything but I was just wondering what if I got on the wait list of say...A School and got accepted to B School.

A School is your first choice and you don't know when you'll get off the wait list.

Don't you usually have to tell schools by April if you're want to go to their school or not?

So what is I reject B School because I think I will get off the wait list of A School by August but then I didn't.

Then what will happen?

@biancastarflare: I can tell you are charged up about the possibility of going to boarding school but I’m going to offer some unsolicited advice:

Chill. By your own admission you are not applying this year. But yet you are asking about what happens with wait lists. That’s not just putting the cart before the road, it’s putting cart before the completion of a road.

Use the search function. The advanced search lets you select which forums you want to search in. Many of your questions have probably been asked and answered before. Before starting a new thread, try looking for threads that might answer your specific questions. And even if they don’t…those threads might be good places to ask questions — for example, your Exeter/Andover question would probably get more attention if posted to an Exeter/Andover thread. And there are plenty of posts about wait lists, including this one:

Consolidate your questions into one thread. Starting multiple threads before you get any traction on an existing one isn’t really the best way to get answers to your questions.

Have patience. Just because a few hours or days go by without anyone responding doesn’t mean people are ignoring you. In my experience, very few questions go unanswered on the forum. Again, simply starting more threads is not the solution.

Forgot to add that the “Chances” sub forum is generally reserved for “Chances” threads…if you have questions that aren’t related to your “Chances”, you should probably ask them in the main forum, Parent subforum, or Cafe subforum.
