I just finished my first year at a midwestern LAC, and am seriously considering transferring to Smith. I have a few questions, though…

I was accepted at Smith as a freshman applicant (albeit off the waitlist), and obviously, chose not to attend. Will this have any impact on my transfer chances?

I see from the website that almost three times as many transfer applicants enter in the fall than in the spring. Is this because it’s more difficult to be accepted as a spring transfer, or because there are simply fewer applicants for spring transfer?

One of many reasons I’m transferring is that there have been significant changes in my fin. aid package at my current school due mostly to the economy. My financial aid at Smith as a freshman was decent–still difficult, but better than the new package at my current school. Has financial aid suffered at all at Smith over the last year? Is it different for transfers, or can I safely assume a similar package to the one I was offered as a freshman?
