Questions about transferring to Michigan

Im currently about to go in as a freshman at the University of Michigan-Dearborn( A sister school to the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor), and I really want to transfer to the Ann Arbor campus as soon as I can..
I didnt do so well in highschool due to family problems and an ilness that I had for two years. So I ended up having a 2.87 GPA, and a 26 ACT. Of course Umich promptly rejected me, sending me a letter that I could apply again after two years in another college.
so my question is: what are my chances of transferring, and what would happen if I apply for transfer after one year rather than two like they asked?

if you can prove yourself at dearborn by doing extremely well (gpa of 3.7+), i would apply after a year for winter term.

if not, you have one more semester to pull up your grades and transfer to umich for the fall of 2009 as a junior. if you're transferring as a junior, i don't see why you wouldn't get in with a 3.3+.

anyone else?
