I’m a current sophomore at Boston College but I have decided to apply to transfer to UConn for Fall 2019 because BC took away a large part of my financial aid (due to my family’s finances) and my junior year will end up costing ~ $78k. I have a couple questions about UConn transfer admissions as well as research on campus.
I am a CT resident and at BC I am a chemsitry major and mathematics minor with a 3.7 GPA. I am involved in a few clubs on campus, have been on Dean’s List every semester. I had a 4.1 weighted GPA in high school, 1500 SAT, a few 750+ SAT 2 scores. Do I have a good chance of getting into UConn Storrs? I believe I am above average on test scores but I am worried because I really need to get in due to finances. Is there anything I should do to increase my chances?
Another question I had was about research at UConn. I am really interested in participating in undergraduate research in chemistry or chemical engineering at UConn. Are there a lot of opportunities to do so? I also want to do research this summer (either at UConn or Yale) and am wondering how to go about doing that. I would rather do research at UConn since it’s closer than Yale and I wouldn’t have to pay for housing. Should I reach out to the chem department head? Or professors individually.
Thanks!
