I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything, but my UVA sent me the application and I am surprised to find that there's no form to list extracurriculars or forms for teacher recs. Or are these things not needed by the university?

If its the freshman app, I think you are responsible for doing that yourself. If its the transfer app, they have a question about ECs in the supplement.

It's one of the "essay" questions on both applications.

^ What's that mean? There's an essay about your extracurriculars?

Buffalo, have you read the prompt for that text box? I put essay in quotes because it's in the essay section, but it's just a text box with a prompt about how to list your activities.

Oh, gotcha. I was confused about what the quotes implied.

Sorry, I may sound stupid but this is where I went to http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/essays.html. And I didn't see anything abour listing extracurriculars. (I'm applying for a freshman spot.) And about teacher recs, do I just ask my teachers to write them myself? How many is acceptable?

Also, I'm a permanent citizen (green card) but not yet a citizen, will I be counted as an international student? Thanks for all the replies.

A green card should allow you to pay at the instate rates. A friend of mine decided to work the year following his graduation becuase he had a student visa, meaning colleges would have counted him as an international. I think he got his green card not too long ago, so he is looking to attend college next fall.
