Questions and please chance

I'm a white junior male from TN. I have always really liked Virginia and the Carolinas, so I'm currently seriously considering UVa, Wake Forest, Wofford, and Clemson (only the first two are "related", I know).

I was a real slacker in my early high school years, but I've been working my butt off this year to try to make up for it. So, please read through and if you can, answer my questions and tell me if I have a chance at WFU. Any advice about what I can do this year to boost my chances would be good. Also would I get any money/do you know of any opportunities that would help me get it?

Academics:
-GPA: 3.7 weighted (I realize this is pathetic, freshman/sophomore years were a waste)
-Class rank: My school doesn't rank; I would put myself in the top 20 of my class of ~100
-Curriculum: planning to take 4 years French/English/Math/Lab Science/Social Studies; Bible is a required elective every year and I've had other electives every year
2 APs junior year, planning to take 3 APs next year (my school is very limited academically, I take honors and "advanced" when available. Do those even show up in transcripts?)

Scores:
-No ACT or SAT yet; I scored a 214 on the PSAT (highest in my school, right on the line for National Merit Semifinalist qualifying in Tennessee so we'll see next September. Does WFU offer scholarships or even better chances for finalists?)

Extracurricular/other (can someone help with what to even include?):
-Christian Literature Club (treasurer)
-Chem Club
-Chess Club
-National Honor Society
-15 hours of service/year (required by school)
-annual mission trip to French Canada with my school's French program in which I lead worship (not included in required service)
-swimming for 8 years, high school swimmer all 3 years, club swimming (year-round and practice every night; takes a good chunk of time) for 2 years
-member of the Scholar's Bowl team, 10th and 11th grade
-nationally ranked in the French Grand Concours, 10th grade
-part of Duke's Talent Identification Program in 7th grade, scored a 1050 on the SAT (520 math/530 verbal)

Intended major: Economics with an English minor (The plan is to go on to law school)

Thanks!

If you can score over a 2100 on the SAT's I think you have a good shot for WFU.
Clemson and Wofford you shouldn't worry about too much.
However, UVA accepts mainly from Virginia, so it is really competitive outside of the state, so you might have difficulty getting in there even with a 2100.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I realize that UVa is very competitive so it's my "long shot" school. But thanks for the advice, I'll definitely be studying for the SAT.

Someone told me that Wake Forest doesn't even look at SATs, but the gist I'm getting is that they're optional. Can someone clarify?

As of this year, they're optional to send in. If you do send them in, though, expect them to be looked at (just like any supplemental information that you sent them would be looked at).

So it would help my chances (based on my GPA) to send in my SAT if I got 2100+?

^^ Yes it most certainly would. 2100+ is very good, hell I'd even send it in if it as 1950+ which is average and average is not a bad thing.

if youve got a 1280+ on the reading and math (they don't even look at writing) you're better than more than half, which shows you have good potential.

How are the scholarships?
I'm in the awkward lower level of upper-middle class where I get screwed over by the FAFSA but I'm not well-off enough to pay full tuition. Haha.
