I am transferring from Texas. My college gpa is a 3.4 and I will have 25 hours after this semester. but I did poorly in hs and I was suspended from my last school for being caught with alcohol on campus. Do I stand a chance at admission?

is it just me or does depaul give out scholarships readily while the amount of grants they give for financial aid kinda sucks?

For most of my colleges, I averages around paying 13~15 grands while depaul leaves me with a 25 grand to pay in loans (not including federal sub/unsub).

How in the world did you pay for it?! Lol. I’m actually extremely curious. DePaul’s been my first choice, but I just got my financial aid report online, and it left me with about a 24k gap (9k more than I was expecting!!) I have an EFC of 0 with a single mother who’s also going to college herself. I’m in the top 8% of my class with SAT of 1850 and an ACT of 27. Is this really the best Financial aid DePaul can award??

^^ i have to agree. i am 10k more in debt if i go to depaul compared to the other packages.

@glossue and @ygil11 When did you receive your financial aid package and how? (mail,e-mail, etc?)

I surprsingly was checking my spam email files and came across one sent from teh financials at depaul

Mine was in my Inbox. It says in the message that DePaul will not send a paper letter of your financial aid award.

If you haven’t found the e-mail, if you go to CampusConnection > Admitted Students > Tuition & Fin. Aid > View My Financial Aid, you might be able to see what they awarded you.

I just looked in my depaul account for financial aid and it says “You have no financial aid awards available for viewing in this aid year.” But then there was a link at bottom that says “Estimated Cost of attendance” and when I click on that it says “Term Total: $0”, and “Total cost of attendance: $0”. Is this a good thing? So does this mean that I basically go for free? (I already received a 18,000 per year merit scholarship and that is without any regards to financial aid)

No. If you’re account is saying that, then DePaul hasn’t gotten to putting together your award.

I did get an update on the financial aid status and they gave me NO aid. Just 35,000 worth of loans, and they forgot to add in the St.Vincent DePaul scholarship. My dad is calling them.

Hey
I am a really similar student to you in high school, and i have gotten into a lot of my top choices, but i still feel like depaul is a competitor. what do you think makes it stand out from some more highly ranked schools? I got accepted to honors, how do you think it fairs, are you challenged in comparison to APs or honors classes in high school. I loved the visit at depaul, but i am not sure still…do you have any advice that could make my decision for depaul easier?
