Questions for Applying

I plan on applying for Texas's engineering as soon as possible. I'll be graduating from high school in 2012. I heard the earliest you can apply is August 1st (that's when the essay prompts are released for Texas App). When I apply with my essays, letters of rec, and transcript from fresh-junior year how long will it take to hear back my results? Also, will they ask for a midterm transcript around February or so to see my grades again? I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 4-6% of my class ATLEAST, but for some strange reason if my rank were to drop a lot lower ( out of the top 8% ) would I get unaccepted?

Bump?..

You can only apply as a HS Senior (or whenever you “graduate” according to your school district).

One requirement is a “Final Transcript” which you do not get until AFTER you graduate HS.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

As Ace6904 mentioned above, you apply to UT beginning August 1 of your senior year; in your case August 1, 2011. You will send UT a high school transcript reflecting your grades from 9th through the end of 11th grade.

For the HS class of 2012, the automatic acceptance percentage is 9%, assuming you attend a Texas high school. Your class rank at the end of your junior year is what will determine admission. So, if you are in the top 9%, you will be admitted. However, each college within UT has their own parameters, such as Engineering, Business, and Communications. So, you can be accepted into UT, but not into the college you want. If you are unsure of what Engineering’s criterion is, you should contact the University.

As mentioned, if you are ranked in the top 9% next fall, you will be automatically admitted. UT will NOT require an additional transcript in February, 2012. You will need to submit a final transcript when you graduate in May/June, 2012 to demonstrate you have completed high school. However, if you happen to fall out of the top 9%, you will not be denied admission. But, be advised you should not fail any classes your senior year.

Good luck.
