That is good that you have a backup at UH. The “Business Economics Option” is actually different than Business foundations, you take 4 classes that are just regular McCombs classes and get your minor in business. Obviously that is not the same as a BBA though.

Im trying to get in Mccombs myself, @Alli4real i can tell you that Bauer is a great school.(i go to UH) I know plenty of people who have found jobs before graduation, especially in Accounting. Bauer isnt such a bad choice if you cant get in Mccombs. Its very underrated in my opinion, the city of Houston serves UH well. Houston is a great city with several major companies, you’ll be fine.

Thonly problem with me attending Bauer for business is that I will be behind as not all my credits will transfer. Not to mention I have to re-take certain math classes so I’m putting myself in a tough position if I don’t get into McCombs.

Yep I am also putting myself into a tough position because if I don’t get into McComb’s I need to choose another major obviously, thus having wasted my time taking indictator classes and taking a hit to my college cumulative gpa (UT+community college) for when I apply to law school. Also, I will have to take the foreign language requirements which I don’t need to take if i’m accepted at McComb’s because I had 3 years of high school spanish.

I wonder if there is any chance we might hear back before July?

I am still waiting on my decision as well…I have credit for all 4 courses, and I have a 3.91… I’m getting really impatient about the decision, although the smaller applicant pool has me feeling better

Wow well with a 3.91 you’re definitely in. I’m extremely jealous of that GPA. I’m sitting on pins and needles wondering if a 3.66 will get me in.

Does anyone happen to know how they view extracurriculars and college awards? I was dean’s list/honor roll two consecutive semesters at the business school of my previous university and made the university honor’s list here at UT. I also had an upward trend of 3.4 my first semester at UT and 3.9 this past spring. If I happen to be borderline, i’m hoping they take all of that into consideration.

The guy in the internal transfer session I went to said awards/publications/ECs will help you get off the bubble if your GPA is pretty close to the cut off mark.

The guy said it was expected to be around 3.5. He didn’t add much else to that statement (it was on a slide too) except to say that it wasn’t set in stone. So I wouldn’t bank on it too much as something could change.

I had a meeting with that same guy before and he said he was almost sure it would be slightly lower then last years simply because of the new grading system. But he told me if you want to be on the safe side, make sure your GPA is at least around a 3.7. :/

What’s confusing is when they say “around” a certain GPA. We all know that different GPAs, even with a .1 difference, are still a big difference. A 3.5 is drastically different than a 3.7, and even a 3.6 and 3.7 are significantly different.

So I wonder what they mean exactly by “around” a particular GPA? While a 3.7+ would gain you admission almost automatically, what about people like me who are inbetween GPAs? A 3.66 is between a 3.6 and 3.7 - so how would that be looked at? As a 3.6? As almost a 3.7? Arrrgh sorry guys I guess i’m just trying to analyze this as much as possible. One week till decisions go out and i’m freaking out.

The guy told the group that if you are a few hundredths off the the set GPA, that is where you ECs and other information comes into play. So if you have a 3.58 and the mark is 3.6, you may be able to get in if you are involved on campus, or maybe have extenuating circumstances that you put in the optional field. Obviously this isn’t scientific…

3.4? Wow maybe he was borderline and had some great extracurriculars or something. I got in with a 3.66 this year, so if he got in with a 3.4 i’m guessing it’s 3.5 and he was on the fence. Congrats to all who got in!!
