Hey guys, I just finished my freshman year at UT and applied for a internal transfer to McCombs. What I'm wondering is if any of you guys have talked to anybody related to the decision process about when the decisions will be released? The McCombs site says June but the decision site says July. I just want some clarification because this wait is killing me! Thank you all.

bump…Anyone? Has anyone heard back yet? :(

Early July is the date for internal transfer decisions, basically after the external transfers are done. What are your stats, from what I know the avg GPA is something like a 3.8.

Thanks for replying! I have around a 3.74 this year lol. Did you apply for internal transfer too?

Internal transfers came out today.

Yeah I got the email earlier this evening and happy to say I got in! :)

Congrats to all

yes I did get in

i got in with a 3.58, this was one of mccombs most competitve year, acceptance rate was 54%

chiUTAustin, where did you get the 54% stat? Do you know the avg admission GPA? The acceptance rate is always high because the requirements are high. For example you can’t apply without a 3.0 (even then the normal GPA is like 3.7 for admittance), you have to have the full ECO and CALC sequence, etc. So the applicant pool is already trimmed. Many kids can’t apply because they don’t meet the minimums.

my friend got denied with a 3.55 and mccombs wrote in his rejection letter that the min gpa for admission was changed from 3.5 to 3.6 due to the competitiveness, they also said in the letter that 450 kids applied and 247 got accepted, the avg gpa was 3.8 this year, the past statistics always show the acceptance percentage from who applied and who got accepted

texansfan1

chiUTAustin–out of curiosity, if the minimum internal transfer GPA was 3.6 as you stated and you have a 3.58, how were you admitted? This seems counterintuitive.

i have no clue lol, McCombs said that they would add borderlines, I’m not sure what to say but i have a 3.587 gpa and i got admitted lol its crazy

i have a friend who was denied with a 3.5 and another one denied with a 3.55, i guess i was closer to the 3.6 minimum, I am a living proof that mccombs do go slightly under the min, I guess i also had go extracurriculars i really don’t know

txex86 i literally was in shock the whole day when i found out the min was 3.6 from my friend, because of my gpa

Just curious do any one of you guys know how to register for the business courses? I am looking through the ones that it tells me to take but they are pretty much all closed except BA 101

Thanks the 3.6 gpa, with 3.8 average, makes sense. They also said at transfer orientation they would not take more than 250 people. Huytee, call UT McCombs registrar directly. I think they opened a new STA 309 class, and maybe will be opening others to accommodate.

Yeah it’s been 2 weeks and I’ve only been able to grab ACC 311 MIS 301 and BA 101. The STA 309 and BA 324 classes seem impossible to get into. My advisor said they open up classes randomly throughout the day but I’m never lucky enough to see them open :(

I’m about to start my sophomore year at UT, with hope of transferring into McCombs in the spring. I’m completing my calc requirement at a local college, so I will have all my requirements and just fluff up my GPA/finish basics the next 2 semesters. Just looking ahead, once you did get admitted how was it changing to business classes for the fall? What about the summer session? (Just trying to figure out since I realllly need to graduate in 4 years) I saw y’all talking about it so I thought I would get y’all’s input. Also how were you’re GPA/extracurriculars when applying? Thanks! :)
