Hey guys, I'm a sophomore in high school. I've been thinking about college lately. I had a 3.4 (uw) GPA my freshman year, but I took 2 honors courses. So far this year by GPA is 3.8(uw), while taking 3 honors courses. When colleges look at your GPA do they look at the unweighted GPA or the weighted one?

Varies by college. There is no one correct answer to this question.

Sophomore... Enjoy the your HS experience, do well on standardized test... don't worry about college THAT much. It always seems like there's people on this website who continue to believe that high school is a pressure cooker...

I have to agree with IHATESAT on that, and it always seems that the ones who worry the most are the kids w/ the 4.3 GPA and the 1510 on their SAT's.

Take high school seriously, but enjoy your Sophomore year. God knows it only gets more stessful as it goes. Take a challenging courseload, but make sure that you don't end up killing yourself with an overdose of AP's.

I'm going to tell you a story...
Freshman year, I worked hard and school, just like I always had. I had fun and stuff, but I worked hard and kept up with my studies. Sophomore year, I moved to a knew school. I didn't know anybody and had little to no social life so I let school work consume my life. Junior year I was, yet again, at ANOTHER school, and things were even worse. This time I had moved to a small town where everyone knew everyone else for their whole lives and didn't give a s*** about meeting new people. once again, I focused on school work because that was all I had. Now it's senior year and I feel like I've wasted my high school experience.

mattchak10, don't do what I did. Don't worry about college just yet. Do as best you can in school but don't stress. If you know what's good for you, you won't visit this site again until the second semester of your junior year.
