Questions from the newbie - class of 2016

hello, i'm an international student from South Korea and i just got admitted to Oberlin College!

just leaving a thread because i had some questions in my mind, and i'd really appreciate it if youguys can answer some of the questions

about the financial aid...
i really need a financial aid to afford my education in the States, which is one of the reasons why Oberlin was the right school for me.
and the funny thing about my application was that i was first deferred on my ED2 application for Oberlin and then got admitted on RD.

i've been rambling along... so, here's my question #1. will i be able to get the aid that i asked for? i've been surfing about Oberlin and saw that the school provides financial aids to the admitted students

about the conservatory
this is a bit different question.
i'm really into playing guitar (both electric and acoustic) and wish to continue playing the instrument
i was wondering if i can take courses from the conservatory of music even though i did not sign up for the conservatory of music in the first place?

these are my questions
again, it would be a lot of help if you can answer my question(s)

thanks!

@wonnyzang - For your first question, I recommend getting in touch with the financial aid office (financial.aid[at]oberlin.edu). I do not know enough about FinAid at Oberlin to be able to answer your question.

For your second question, yes, you will be to take a selection of classes in the conservatory. There are prerequisites for some of the courses and there will be more specific information available in the information you receive after matriculating. There’s the music resource fair during orientation, which presents all sorts of musical opportunities for students in both the college and the con.

You will definitely be able to continue studying music at Oberlin; many of my friends took private lessons for credit in the conservatory. There are a handful of lessons taught by faculty to non-conservatory students and there are always approved upperclassmen students available to teach lessons, too. If you want to pick up a new instrument, there are also reasonably priced lessons available.

Congratulations on your acceptance to Oberlin!
