Questions on Internships, and Cal State Schools! :)

Disclaimer: I am currently a senior in high school

So October is almost here and I have my eyes SET on CSU Long Beach, CSU San Diego, CSU San Jose, and CSU Northridge. The only problem I have with these schools is that I went on to the Northridge website to check out their BS in Public Health and they are seeking reaccreditation! So does that mean that their program was of really low quality or something sketchy happened there?

Also, I wanted to know which school is considered the “best” for internships, and other experiences during college. As well as which school’s students have the highest salary post-graduation? Lastly, which school’s students have the easiest time finding a job after they graduate?

Also, I wanted to ask where my two community college courses I took over the summer will be located on my transcript. I obtained A’s in both of them and want those colleges I am applying to see that I am capable of college-level work. Is there location going to be in a spot where they stand out?

Lastly, since I took the ACT with writing, I wanted to know if I could send it to the CSUS I’m applying to? I know they don’t require the essay, but I heard it was optional–is that true?

Feedback would be much appreciated, thank you!

I will start with the ACT question first. Since you took the ACT with writing, you will send this ACT to the Cal states even if they do not require it. Yes the essay/writing section is optional for the Cal States but not for the UC’s and several other private schools.

Your community college courses will be reported in the College academic section of the CSU application. Once you have decided on a school to attend, you will be expected to send the community college transcript along with your HS transcript.

From the CSU apply website:

Regarding jobs and internships, there is no “best” school. No school is going to hand you an internship or job. Each school has a career center where jobs/internships will be posted. It is up to you to make the contacts and pursue any of the opportunities that arise.
Employers are more interested in the job skill set you posses vs. the school you attended, so utilize all resources available at your school including your professors and fellow students.

Regarding Reaccreditation for CSUN. They received their reaccreditation this June.

The California State University, Northridge BSPH and MPH Programs are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Accreditation was awarded on June 28, 2019 for a seven-year term, extending to July 1, 2026.

The program is not of low quality. The accreditation is current for 7 years and then programs are reviewed and reaccredited for another 7 year period.

[quote]
CEPH accredits schools of Public Health as well as Public Health programs at institutions that do not have a school of Public Health. It is a non-profit organization with a board of experts in the field from American Public Health Association (APHA) and the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH). CEPH set the standards (there are more than twenty standards of criteria that need to be met) for a school of public health or public health program to maintain quality in curriculum, learning environment and financial stability of the program.

i agree, 100% - one add, these schools are all semi-selective. I don’t know your stats so they may, or may not be appropriate targets for you.

you can post your stats for more guidance.
