Questions on the Arts (Music) Supplement?

Hello! I have some questions about the arts supplement for the common app (as seen by the title).

I will be submitting a music recording. I play 2 instruments and I compose; could the supplement have samples of all three or do they want a focus on only one instrument?

Additionally, one of my pieces is around 6-7 minutes long. Would it be advisable to play only a ~3 minute excerpt of the piece, or the entire thing?

I really enjoy all three music media and have received state awards in all of them. I know that the music recording has a time limit, so it's important to pick and choose the best excerpts which exhibit "exemplary" playing.

Thank you in advance.

I would assume it depends on the school - you should probably email individual schools to figure out their policy on multi-instrumentalists. I’m not too sure about the two instruments but I don’t see why a college would be against a composition submission along with a recording.

If the total length of the full pieces you wish to submit exceeds the length requirement, you’d want to cut it, but if not it’d probably be better for full effect. I think some schools allow for a longer recording (Princeton has 10-15 minutes as compared to the common app’s 10) so keep that in mind too.

Hope this helps.
