Hey guys I just have a quick question about the timing of the APUSH test. After we take the 55 minute multiple choice part (and a 10 minute break), we start on the DBQ/FRQ part. So when the time starts for this section, is there a 15 minute "mandatory" reading period for the DBQ (where we can't write) or is that just suggested and we can write during that time? Also, I understand that the DBQ/FRQ parts are all together, so then that means that the 5 minute "reading" period before each of the FRQs can't be mandatory, right? I just want to clear this up before I get to the test. Thanks for any help.

It’s a mandatory 15-minute reading period. You can read/plan for all of the essays in this period. After the 15 minutes, you then have a total of 115 minutes to write all three essays however you choose. It is recommended to spend 45 minutes on the DBQ and 35 minutes on the remaining two essays (each).

Ok that makes sense. Thanks!

Really! That’s great!

So they don’t take the DBQ up before you can start the FRQs?

^ No. You can freely go back and forth between all three essays.
