Quick Essay Question (UMich)

I was looking at the essays required for the application, as listed on the U of M website. Part 2 says that I have to pick one of the following schools that I want to attend and write the corresponding essay:

School of Art & Design
College of Engineering
Interarts Performance
Kinesiology
College of Literature, Science, and the Arts
School of Music, Theatre, and Dance
School of Nursing

what am I missing here? I don't want to go to those schools, I want to go to the business school. Do I have to apply to one of these in order to get in? sorry this may be dumb, but it's rather confusing. it was the same way on the online application I was looking at.

University of Michigan - Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Yeah that is a little confusing.

How it works, is if you are selected as a pre-admit for the Ross Business School, you will start off in LSA, the College of Engineering, or the school of music, theater, and dance.. So you need to write the essay for that school in addition to the diversity essay, the Ross BBA essay, and the essay where you have options on what to write about for a total of four essays.

The preferred admission program for BBA will only consider you if you are first accepted to LSA, Engineering, or Music/Theater/Dance.

I'm also applying for the Ross preferred admit program. From talking to older students who have done this and talking to U Mich admissions people, when you get in preferred admit to Ross you dont take Ross classes your freshmen year, you take classes in the other school you got in. Being accepted preferred admit just guarantees you a spot in Ross starting your sophomore year. Also the Ross admissions people wont read your essay until you are accepted into one of the other schools.
Hope this helps
