Does anyone know the difference between MUS 201J BEG CLASS PIANO FOR NONMUS MAJ and MUS 313 FUNDMNTL MUS: PIANO? I'm not a music major, but I've had experience with music before. I want to learn how to play the piano but I can't take MUS 201J because it interferes with another class. I was wondering if MUS 313 was similar to MUS 201J?

Nevermind, found it.

You should share because I would like to know. The class descriptions I feel are so vague.

For those who cannot read music and who have no prior piano experience: MUS 313 Fundamentals of Music: Piano. (This is group instruction.)

This is our most beginning level course for students who have no prior piano experience and do not know how to read music. This course teaches students how to play chords in various styles of music. There are no restrictions on the registration for this course; however, sections of this course fill very quickly. For information about MUS 313 Fundamentals of Music: Classroom Instruments, please see the Q&A section below.

For those who cannot read music and who have no prior piano experience: MUS 201J Beginning Class Piano for Non-Music Majors. (This is group instruction.)

This course teaches students how to read music as well as basic piano skills and some beginning music theory. 201J is available only during the fall semesters.

MUS 201K Second Semester Class Piano for Non-Music Majors may be available for Spring 2012. Students who register for this course are required to have completed MUS 201J (listed above). Those students who have not completed MUS 201J and do not have similar training as 201J, as well as those students whose piano skills are much more advanced than the 201K level, will be asked to drop the class.
