It asks what I have not expressed..
Would expressing that I am outgoing a good thing to do?
I want to be candid, but I feel like the fact that I know a variety of different kids has little to do with what the adcoms are looking for...

I think when you write about something that sparks your interest, your voice and way of thinking comes through. That’s really what they’re wanting. I haven’t been admitted to Yale, but I think what they’re really asking if for you to EXPRESS yourself to them, not necessarily explicitly describe a certain characteristic about yourself.

I’m only applying RD so I have no idea whether I’ll be accepted either, but I wrote about my background and how it effected my outlook on life. I feel like it says a lot about me, which is what’s important, apparently. Dunno how much the adcoms will like it, though.

The point of the essay is to paint a first-hand account to the adcoms on who you are – what are you passionate for, what kinds of unique experiences have you had that make you a desirable candidate, what unique qualities would you bring to the school’s campus. Simply writing an essay on how you’re outgoing is not strong enough. You need to pick some event in your life, or some passion, and vividly recount to the adcom how said event or passion has influenced you and how its impact will help you be a success at their school (but not explicitly).
