Quick Question NOT A QUIZ

Okay..here's the situation

I was sitting in the library one day at lunch doing my HW and this one kid that I know but not well sits by me and asks me for help on his math homework. I help him with it and some spanish homework. About a week later, the same happens twice. So, I tell the kid I can tutor him regularly just to find me when necessary or I'll check for him at 11 each day during lunch. So I do and I help him for 50 minutes a day usually 2-3 days a week at lunch with ALL of his homework.

Now, I do it to help him, but my app is a little weak. Could I put this EVEN though it is not set up through the school or through a teacher? How could this be credible..would they just trust me or should he sign something or what should I do..just put it?

just put it because you are tutoring him.

Or better, write a clich

No, junior..

interesting, I thought you were a freshman, or would be one next year.

Interesting, I didn't think you were such a smartass

haha sorry. yes, add everything you can. In fact, make a log sheet, have him, and the teacher for whatever class you're helping him with sign it each time (or at the end of the year) and get community service for your help. No joke.

yeah you could just list tutoring - __ hours.

better yet, if you don't include it on your list of ecs, you could always just have teachers mention it in your rec. it would be really good if one of the teachers who was writing you a rec taught the kid you were helping, too. then he/she could be like "he devotes 3 hrs a week to tutoring and his effort has drastically improved the quality of life of another student of mine, who went from Ds to As in just a few short weeks thanks to logisticlord's supreme tutoring skillz." or something like that ;)

I want a tutor.

Haha I charged this rich loser $30/hr for math. Only totaled about 8 hours though =(.

This girl from my school (9th grader too) asked me to tutor her for the SAT II Math IIC. What do you think if a fair price to charge her?

I'm kinda peeved. I'm gonna start tutoring my freshman friend (he's a junior) and I asked for $10/hour. Then my Mom yelled about how I should've charged 15. I haven't started yet, so I can talk to them soon. So, along the lines of QuizQuick's question, should I ask for 15? Although... the guy IS my friend.

Btw it's only for the rest of the school year (until June 21, so a little less than two months). His parents want me to go 4 hours/week for the next 7ish weeks. Maybe they'll take me back next year if he needs help again and they like me, but we haven't talked about it or anything.

I dunno, in the eyes of colleges, Comm. Service > Money, so I'd do it for free. Plus, hes a friend!

And no, you can't charge him AND ask to write it off as comm service heh.
