Do any of you guys tutor? Or do you HAVE tutors?
I'm asking because I'm kind of interested in volunteer-based tutoring organizations.
Do you think people from your school would be interested in tutoring students up until the high school level? Or would a lot of them like tutors?
Just looking for some perspective. :) Thanks.

I have tutored some kids (high schoolers), but it was done through my school (mostly honor societies). People will be interested in it if they can get recognition (e.g. put it on their transcript), or people much more rarely will have a genuine interest in helping people.

Generally people don’t “like tutors” in the respect that they want to spend more time on academics (generally the people who benefit from tutoring due to low grades etc. are not the ones who want to invest more time into school), but there are some people who are motivated though not naturally smart and are willing to do what is necessary to master the material. At my school, I think when people are doing poorly in a class it is suggested that they can get a tutor. So you probably want to primarily target people institutionally–get administrators’ support, have them send out a newsletter to parents, etc.

Thanks for your help! I really like that idea of getting the school involved; it would probably work a lot better.
