Quick question regarding ED SAT submission!

Hey, quick question that I'm sure has been answered a million times but which i couldn't find the answer to:
I took the SAT in May, but I'm retaking in November. Additionally, I'm applying ED. My question is, do i have to send my may scores in before the November 1st deadline, and then rush my November scores after i take that test? Or do i just rush my November scores after i take the test, and not send in my scores beforehand?. Do I need to notify them?

hey. Nov SAT test should be eligible for ED. If u want to compare you two tests result once the Nov SAT test result is out, u can rush either of those scores. U might either fax in the scores(according to once college I enquired), or otherwise u need to ask your college :) and yes, about the notification, you need to state down the test date. I assume if u write Nov 08, they would expect to wait for the results.

thanks (10 char).

um, wait, do i need to send in my october scores now as well? and then notify them of nov scores, and rush those? or just rush nov scores, and not send them in twice?

hey, I hope I'm accurate in what I say. I guess colleges wont want to have two SAT scores received to them then decide to look at the higher one. You must decide for yourself which one u want send in and do it once.

Where are you applying btw?

This year when you request to have your SAT scores sent, the CollegeBoard will send ALL the scores for all SATs and SAT Subject Tests that you have ever taken. (Next year it will change and you will be able to select which test date scores you'd prefer to submit to a college.) So there is no "comparing scores" and deciding which you like and which you don't. If you order them now they'll send everything you've taken so far. If you want to submit scores again after your Nov. scores are available, the colleges will get everything that was on the previous report, plus the Nov. scores. Colleges very frequently get multiple reports that will of course have some overlapping information. This is not a problem. Most colleges say they'll consider your highest scores when determining admissions, but there is no way to keep any of the scores from them altogether... not this year anyway.

So, since you can't control what they're going to see anyway, what I would do is go ahead and send the scores you already have. (Like I said, they're going to see them anyway.) That way you will be certain to have socres reported by the ED application deadline. Then you can request a rush report from the CollegeBoard once you've taken the November test. Truth is, the November scores will almost certainly arrive in time to be considered with your application, but just in case something goes wrong --and it sometimes does with the CollegeBoard-- you will at least have gotten in your previous test scores already.

It will cost you a little to send the earlier scores, whereas with the Nov. test scores you can request that they be sent to up to 4 colleges as part of your initial registration fee for the test. But at least you wouldn't have to be worried about whether or not your application is complete in time.

thanks rent for clarifying.

sorry if im hijacking, but what if i took the may SAT but never sent them to my ED school, should I rush them now? or would standard submission be ok? and what if I want to wait for my October SAT to come out?

the Oct score will be available on 10/23, if i submit the score on that day, will the college receive it before 11/1?

or Nov. 10th for me?

October SAT scores are timely for early action. But, hey, didn't you already put you list of colleges to send scores to on your test registration when you registered for the test?
