quick question ; UC gpa

quick question; is a 4.0 UC weighted gpa bad if you got like a 2200+ on your SAT? if you're a cali resident?

no hahah..

its great, especially if ur a cali resident.

i agree with mario, if you have a 4.0 UC and a 2200+ expect to get into both UCLA and UCB.

mangogo:

UCB/UCLA: Match

Well it may be a match, however, those stats won't lock a admission for UCLA. You need to show them you can write and your essays must be solid. EC's in my experience is only to decide between candidates who have very similar stats.

well i think i'm a good writer, i write for my school newspaper, so i'm not really worried about the essays

so doing a summer abroad program won't really help?

it would most definitely help, but there are lots of other ways to boost your resume.

but hey, if thats what you really want to do, then by all means go for it.

What makes a good college applications essay is the content (passion, personality, honesty) not your writing ability. Writing ability helps, but it's not one of the most important ingredients of an admissions essay. I'm sure you'll write a good essay, just don't take it lightly.

an EC or two wouldn't hurt either!

haha yeah i have enough ecs

really?

i'm cali resident with 4.2 UC GPA, didn't take SAT's yet (but expecting at least 2100) and i've seen some people on CC tell people that have similar stats as me that they don't have a good chance at LA or CAL

if you do actually get over a 2100 you should have a good chance. but nothing is certain at ucla and cal, i've seen people with higher get rejected and lower accepted.

you can never be certain about these college admissions type of things!!! don't even try!

people told me that i was obviously going to get into cal. and here i am. not in cal!

i duno. i had 4.15 GPA w/ 2200 on my sats w/ 700+ on my satIIs and ecs and got into ucla but not cal. and ive had friends w/ similar stats get into cal and ucla or neither. id jus make sure to write really good essays and make sure to include a passion for learning in them

It's not 100% positive that you'll get into both UCLA and Cal, but chances are you'll get into one of them.
