<p>Whitman College says on the common app website that they only require one teacher recommendation, but all the other schools I'm applying to want two. Is it ok to just send two or should I stick with the directions?</p>

<p>My son sent two to Whitman (I'm not sure he noticed that they wanted just one when he asked for teacher recs earlier in the year). Anyway, he was admitted, good scholarship. So I don't know if it helped (although I think it allowed him to highlight additional strengths), but it sure didn't hurt.</p>
<p>Most schools I think don't mind an extra rec, but it never hurts to call them and make sure.</p>
