Hey guys I'm a freshman at gsu hoping to transfer to Georgia tech by next fall. I am hoping to get into the management school but I was wondering if transferring into business harder than engineering? If I don't seem suited to business would switching to an engineering major be an easy thing to do? I heard that students are considered more competitive if they have more hours. Would 40 hours by the end of my freshman year (34 from college classes and 6 from ap's) give me an edge on older students?

Hi LNC931,

I’m not a transfer student yet but on my way making it in the future (hopefully).

As what I have known, it is impossible to change your major after you transfer. I think that makes it a fair game for everbody.

Having more hours doesn’t mean you will be more competitive. You have to make sure that most of those credits apply to your intended major. You can check their requirement for each particular major in their transfer website.

My little advice. You can just ignore it if you want to. Take time to figure out what you really love to do then choose the best path to make it. Don’t plan to switch. Plan to stick with it. Not everybody like engineering.

Yeah I always like to keep my options open but thanks for the reply and the advice. If tech accepts me then I don’t think I would switch since they took the time out to actually admit me! Does anyone know what it usually takes (gpa wise) for business majors to transfer in?

LNC931,

Hope this link helps.
