QUINNIPIAC-can I get in?

Hi! So I'm a junior in high school. I have a 3.2 GPA in honors classes (4.1 weighted). I was in Student Council (9 grade) AIDS ministry (10th grade and 11th) and St. Vincent de Paul society (10th grade). I also work 20 hours a week. My SAT is 2060 (770, 570, 720). I really want to go to Quinnipiac for nursing. I'm also in NHS and French national honor society. Do I have any chance?

Yes. If you can arrange some volunteer work at a hospital this summer, that will add to your resume. (and will help you know if nursing is for you) Apply to every nursing program (including QU) early action as the spaces are limited. Nursing is one of the most competitive majors at any university and if you want merit offers, it’s better to know up front where you can afford to go and know early. Sometimes programs want you to commit earlier than May 1 and even state that if you do not pay your deposit and the program gets filled up, by those that do, you may be waitlisted. (doesn’t seem fair, but some programs state this in their acceptance letters). Good luck!

Thanks for your answer! I’ve already applied for a volunteer job at my local hospital; I’m set to start this summer.

If you are interested in other schools for nursing in that area, you may want to consider Southern Connecticut State University. It’s much less expensive than QU and it has a very respected nursing program. The problem with being an RN is that you truly don’t gain anything in terms of salary or compensation by going to a more expensive school. Believe me, I’ve been an RN for 23 years. :)

Thank you! I’ll look into it!
