Hello, we would appreciate any advice as to the pros and cons of QU and U of Scranton. My daughter is considering both for Occupational Therapy. Thank you!

We’d need net cost to you (ie., tuition+R&B) - scholarships and grants) and how you’d finance that cost: federal loans, income/savings, work study/job, other loans… as well as your current location and what other criteria matter (especially religious vs. not).

We looked at both schools with my S and they were both contenders for him in the end (however. for full disclosure he ended up somewhere else). The two schools have very good programs and they are similarly sized schools. If you can visit them both again, it might be worthwhile (my S did an overnight at UScranton and shadowed a student for a day at QU). Consider some of the differences…ex. does she like the idea of a Jesuit school or not? is one location better? did one give better aid? did she feel more comfortable with the students she met at one school versus the other? does she want Greek life (not available at UScranton)? You can also try to find out where students from both programs end up finding jobs.

Thank you both. My Daughter was given exacty the same financial package at both schools, which nets a similar overall net price. She is very religious, but also passionate about D1 sports (watching). We are much closer to Quinnipiac, (2 hrs) but she loved the culture at Scranton, and we could manage the distance (4.5hrs). We were looking for a comparison perspective as they are both great schools in our opinion, and seem to attract many of the same kids.

I’d say that your daughter should choose Quinnipiac, as it is easier (by far) to find a way out of Hamden, CT than it is out of Scranton, PA when visiting.

Our daughter attends the OT Program at U Scranton. She is growing as an individual and an OT. I would recommend scranton.

The OT program at Scranton is phenominal, with an excellent social justice slant. We couldn’t be happier with the OT program for our child.
The OP is from 2014. Hopefully they decided by now!
I know nothing about either university, but looking at the OT program at Scranton, I believe it is a really good program. Just the course catalog alone looks amazing. Sure, Scranton is D3 but you did say your daughter loved the culture there.
