Quinnipiac vs. Hofstra

Which would you choose and why?

Bump

Bump

depends, what are you going for?

@fullofcharlotte I plan on majoring in International Business while minoring in either Sports Studies or Sports Communication

have you visited either campus?

Both schools are fairly good for that but Hofstra is in a sketchier area of long island, though the campus itself is safe and cute. Hofstra is closer to nyc where there is a lot of business and sports,. Quinnipiac offers some great sports journalism/comm internships

@fullofcharlotte I have not visited either campus yet. However, I am going to Hofstra’s Spring Open House on the 27th, and Quinnipiac’s on May 12th! And I am aware of Hofstra being in a fairly unsafe part of Long Island, but it’s something that I’d be willing to work around if I were to attend.

Here’s the latest on just one of the safety issues around Hofstra: <a href=“DA: Officer Nikolas Budimlic won't face charges in fatal shooting of Hofstra student Andrea Rebello - Newsday”>DA: Officer Nikolas Budimlic won't face charges in fatal shooting of Hofstra student Andrea Rebello - Newsday;

@higheredmom‌ yeah, I’ve heard about that. It doesn’t say that the police shot Rebello. It’s a shame, she was attractive and seemed like a smart woman.

Meanwhile, Quinnipiac was recently voted as safest campus in America. :)

I also think Hofstra has a lot of commuters while Quinnipiac is more of a residential campus if that is a factor.

@happy1‌ that’s right, 77% of all QU undergrads live on campus, while the number is only 47% at Hofstra. 95% of QU freshmen live on campus, compared to just 69% at Hofstra. That’s a pretty big factor in my college search; I don’t want to be bored on campus on the weekends.
