Quitting A Sport

I’m new to this website, but I wanted to ask a question. When should I quit a sport? I am in Drill Team ( a dance team ), I am an officer this year ( which is a co-captain ) but I have struggled to enjoy the program these past few months. I’m scared to talk to my coach about the issue because I’ve always been quiet and still haven’t really gotten to know her. I have been struggling with my grades and I feel like it’s because I’m too concentrated with being perfect for the team, etc. I find myself not practicing dances and dreading practice. I once had really bad anxiety during math simply because I didn’t want to go to practice. I am mentally just not in the best place and I’m constantly waiting for the end of the year so I can finally move on. I want to leave, but feel stuck seeing as I am a officer. What’s the point of staying though if she says I can’t perform next semester because of my grades? I want to end this year on a good note but I am so scared of letting her down and my team. I don’t know what to do.

Welcome to CC!

You should take care of you… bottom line. If Drill team is no longer enjoyable, affecting your academic abilities, and hindering your happiness in life, then drop it. Don’t worry about letting down your team, they will understand. Your own well-being and happiness means so much more than your participation on a sports team. You will never regret prioritizing yourself.
