Quriky kid at Allegheny?

D is a prospective art major, quirky kid with interests in live action role play, fantasy, very bright with ADHD. Allegheny has been suggested as a supportive college to explore, but is there a social home for my quirky daughter?

Oh my goodness absolutely. I just graduated from Allegheny and you have to know, the scene for LARP, fantasy and gaming is incredibly welcoming and arguably the most dynamic group of students on campus, called the Allegheny Role-playing and Gaming Organization (ARGO). I wasn’t a member but I did the school newspaper and they were always a joy to interview and see around campus. They’re definitely a quirky bunch but I’d say everyone at Allegheny is pretty quirky. The pull for students with unusual combinations of interests, as their admissions tagline goes, is quite strong. There are also art and comics clubs for your daughter to join, and a creative magazine (Overkill) for her to build a portfolio in art and design, if she likes. I wholeheartedly recommend Allegheny for your daughter. I was so happy when I was there and it helped me prepare for graduate school, where I am now.

Thanks so much for the info–we will definitely look into Allegheny further based on your comments!
