So what if I put say English IA in my initial self-selection of courses, but then I receive a 5 on the ap lit and composition, which satisfies both halves of the r/c requirement; will they still put me in the IA course or will they automatically drop that course? Also, since I'm not doing a math, I would do three breadth courses if I do not have to do the r/ c requirement. But I don't know what score I will get on lit ap exam, so, do I go ahead and put down the three breadth courses also and then drop one later if I satisfy the r/c requirement? Or should I just put down two, which would leave me with only two classes total if I do not have to do the r/c course?

you should call the office, but what I recall from last year, is that you can make changes once you have your AP score that are due to how you scored. Definitely check with the office, as this was with respect to Math classes. I trust that they will not do anything automatically.

you can only skip out of the first half of the r/c requirement even if you earn a 5 on english lit. well as least for CoE students.

well for spring admit wouldn't you get your ap exam scores wayyy before you have to apply for classes?

as for satisfying the R&C requirement, a "4" or "5" on the english language exam, or a "4" on the english literature exam, will satisfy only the FIRST HALF (r1a) of the R&C requirement, while in order to satisfy BOTH HALVES (r1a and r1b), a "5" on the english literature exam is required.

Also, they will NOT do anything automatically, because it is your choice of whether you would like to take the classes regardless of if you've already satisfied the requirement.

hope this helps.

what he is talking about is doing extension. You should assume you wont get out because you still want a place in the class if you dont get a 5.

when is course selection due for spring admits? The form is already available, but I didn't see a due date.

maybe I should say that this course selection is for the fall extension program..

turn it in asap. it is due before june 1st, but classes fill on a first come first serve basis.

so, I should go ahead and put that third course down for the breadth requirement and then drop it later if I don't make a 5?

yeah, but are you sure they'll let you take three breadth courses and no english course?

well like I selected the english course still, but i also selected a third breadth course so that if I get a 5 on the lit exam and don't take the eng class, I'd still have three classes total. Is that ok?

"yeah, but are you sure they'll let you take three breadth courses and no english course?"

You even even take 4 breadth courses.
