What's an interesting course to take for the first and second semester requirement?

I only need the second one and I'm looking forward to taking anthro r5b, which offers a less literature-oriented focus on the requirement =]

Whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM THE BASIC ENGLISH CLASSES!
Take something like German or Scandinavian Lit.

I took L&S R44 Western Civilization my first semester and enjoyed the class. It focuses on reading the core texts of Western Civilization such as The Iliad, Thucydides' accounts of the Peloponnesian War, Ovid's Metamorphoses, and so forth. The readings were all important and mostly interesting. I also had the great pleasure to meet other people interested in the subject matter.

It can fulfill either half of R&C, making it a versatile class as well.

Since I'm in the college of chemistry, can I take classes at the other colleges?? or do they have their own r&c classes??

@lala91,

YES! I'm in l&s and plan on taking engineering courses.
R&C classes are basically university level, don't worry :]

oh ok cool. thanks =) and one other question related to this topic, what are some of the easier r&c classes? i'm not the best at english =/

hm... I took R1B comp lit and it turned out to be a pretty easy class with a couple of big essays and no final or tests of any sort. The thing is, you don't really know how any of the R1B classes are graded since they're taught by different GSIs every semester. That being said, area studies R1A/B are known to be pretty generous on the grades. Area studies is basically: Asian Studies or African Studies R1 whatever.
